Shiloh’s Heel Bulb – Progress in 16 Days

On January 17, 2019, Dr. Zach Bruggen of Elite Equine repaired the left hind heal bulb laceration on Shiloh, a 12-year-old gelding weighing approximately 1000lbs.  This chronic, non-healing barbed wire wound originally happened on December 18th.  To manage this wound, he cleaned, debrided, and then he surgically sutured amnion into the wound.  He then implanted StemWrap-D into the healthy margin of the tissue.

Dr. Buggen did a checkup on Shilow on February 2, sixteen (16) days after application to find the wound had completely closed with healthy granulation and the wound margins had almost completely contracted.  Shiloh is completely sound at all gaits.  Both Dr. Bruggen and the customer were completely amazed at the result with Dr. Bruggen stating, “Mind is blown with this case. Looks Incredible!”
