Dr. Scott Meyer DVM, MS, owner of Desert Mountain Equine in Queen Creek, Arizona, removed a chronic habronema mass from a 10-year-old donkey’s left front pastern on September 5th, 2018.  Chevy’s habronema removal created a complicated distal limb wound with the threat of reoccurrence of the habronema.

One week after surgery on September 12, 2018, Dr. Meyer debrided the wound of all the excess granulation (proud flesh) and placed an EquusCell 5×5 StemWrap amnion bio-bandage on the wound and implanted 2ml vial of StemWrap-D into the margins of the wound.

Due to the chronic mass removal being a complicated wound, Dr. Meyer reapplied a second application of StemWrap’s bio-bandage to the wound.  It was then rechecked on October 22, 2018, eleven days the removal of the mass.

Eleven days after the application of EquusCell’s StemWrap to Chevy’s pastern on September 22, 2018.

Wound recheck on November 5th, 2018, just 55 days after application of EquusCell StemWrap.

Wound recheck on November 23rd, 2018, 73 days after application of EquusCell StemWrap.
