Clyde’s Fetlock Wound

Clyde, a 5-year-old quarter horse gelding suffered a nasty laceration that extended down to the bone along with a protruding flap.  Dr. Zach Bruggen of Elite Equine of Cabot, Arkansas applied AniCell’s StemWrap to the wound and bandaged it.  Ten days post-application of StemWrap shows tissue starting to fill in over the bone and continued viability of the exposed flap.  Typically the flap would devitalize due to necrosis, but the amnion is able to neovascularize the tissue so quickly that it revitalizes the tissue.  By 15 days post-application of StemWrap, the wound margins have filled in and the previous flap has now been integrated into healthy tissue.

Clyde’s owners and Dr. Bruggen are thrilled with the results.  AniCell’s StemWrap amnion sheets and implantable StemWrap-D allografts are a “one-and-done” solution for severe wounds like Clyde’s.
