Case Study “Diesel” – Barbed Wire Cut

anicell-hexagon

Dr. Lauren Schnabel, Veterinary surgeon and a nationally and internationally recognized research scientist of stem cell therapies in horses at the North Carolina State University used EquusCell AniMatrX and StemWrap to treat Diesel, a 12 year old gelding quarter horse who was caught in barbed wire fence on June 1st , 2015. He was treated at home initially but then brought to the NC State University Veterinary Hospital in July of 2015 as he had chronic open and infected distal tarsal joints. Once his joint infection was resolved, he maintained a deep tract on the medial aspect of the tarsus and a large wound over the dorso-medial aspect of the entire tarsus.

In order to get the medial tract to fill in and to expedite wound healing and get Diesel home to his owners, Dr. Schnabel was eager to apply this treatment. We overnighted our EquusCell AniMatrX and StemWrap product for treatment. Treatment was performed on August 13, 2015 — 74 days after initial injury.
