Case Study: Mast Cell Tumor

This case is courtesy of Dr. Dena Kruger with Hosanna Animal Hospital.

Cherokee, an 11-year-old Boxer mix, underwent debulking of a mast cell tumor on November 19, 2025, followed by management with Stemwrap & StemWrap D. Given the biologic behavior of mast cell tumors, StemWrap D was administered subcutaneously in a circumferential “clock pattern” surrounding the surgical site to support the local tissue environment.

At just 3 months post-procedure, the site demonstrates complete closure with healthy tissue integrity and normal hair regrowth. This outcome highlights the role of amniotic-derived allografts as a biological scaffold, supporting organized tissue repair and recovery in challenging oncologic cases.

We are thankful for our veterinary partners who share their feedback with our team! Thank you for helping us refine protocols and assist us with providing innovative solutions for the veterinary community!

Vet Spotlight

PAW CHI HOLISTIC VETERINARY CARE

In this quarter’s Vet Spotlight, we’re proud to feature Dr. Leslie Baldner, owner of Paw Chi Holistic Veterinary Care in Roseville, California, whose integrative, whole-animal approach to care blends traditional veterinary medicine with complementary modalities and regenerative solutions. Drawing from both clinical experience and personal use in her own pets, Dr. Baldner shares how amnion-derived products have become a practical addition to her workflow, supporting mobility, comfort, and overall quality of life across a wide range of patients. She also highlights the value of education, collaboration, and accessible support when incorporating regenerative technologies into practice.

Read the full feature to learn more about her approach and perspective on advancing patient care through thoughtful, whole-animal strategies.

Sterile Saline vs Sterile Water

How to reconstitute amniotic allografts properly to promote efficacy

When reconstituting desiccated amnion-derived allografts, sterile saline (0.9% sodium chloride) is preferred over sterile water because of its isotonicity. Saline more closely mimics the osmotic environment of physiologic extracellular fluid, helping preserve the structural integrity of extracellular matrix components, such as collagen and glycoproteins, during rehydration. In contrast, sterile water is hypotonic and may contribute to osmotic stress, potentially disrupting matrix architecture and diminishing handling characteristics.

Using sterile saline enables more controlled rehydration of the graft, helps maintain its intended physical properties, and facilitates consistent application in a clinical setting.
