Elmo Update: How he went from this to this?

Every horse owner had a starter horse; the horse that fueled your passion and challenged you to be a better horse person. If you were really young, that horse was a pony and the challenges were multiplied. Mine was “Nosey” and during his 25 year life, he coached and bucked off kids from my mom, to me and six others in between. On my non-trusty steed, Nosey, I was just one of the other Cowboys and with rope in hand, no one was safe.

Elmo is just such a pony having been handed down across five families over his 25 year life span. His current home is with Hannah, an 8 year old little girl from Pennsylvania. Elmo has been a part of Hannah’s life for 4 “ACTIVE” years now and whether it is Hannah breaking Elmo, or Elmo breaking Hannah, the bond between them is nothing short of extraordinary.

While ponies seem to be indestructible, occasionally they are afflicted with kryptonite that slows down the “ACTIVE” life that is shared between human and animal. For Elmo, that was a corneal ulcer in the eye.  Since December, the ulcer continued to grow even through diligent and ongoing treatments with traditional medicine until Dr. Erin Moore called AniCell. With a singular use of EquusCell’s AlloOcular, Dr. Erin provided certain relief and ultimately gave Hannah her pony back.

This weekend, after Dr. Moore’s exam to check the progress of Elmo’s eye, he is definitely back. Back to being a pony escaping to be with the “BIG” horses by crawling under the fence. Back to being Hannah’s friend, confidant and partner preserving the ACTIVE life that can only be shared with the healthy companionship between a horse and rider.
